Did You Know?
About 94,000 primary brain tumor diagnoses in the U.S. (malignant & benign) occur yearly, with roughly 24,000 being malignant, leading to ~18,300 deaths.
Glioblastoma accounts for 48% of all primary malignant brain tumors. There are only four FDA approved drugs - and one device - to treat Glioblastoma.
Glioblastoma remains the most aggressive malignant type, with poor survival rates, driving research into new approaches like targeted radiation and minimally invasive surgery.
Glioblastoma Awareness Day is the third Wednesday in July but it should not be the only day that you should decide to become educated on this disease.
The Story of Nick Gonzales
The Nick Gonzales Foundation for Brain Tumor Research came into being in 2007 as a tribute to Nick, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Nick’s diagnosis of a stage IV GBM had a profound impact on his family. With no prior family history and the early warning signs going unnoticed, his journey inspired the foundation’s creation.
